Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
